Paracetamol 250mg Suspension relieves pain and feverishness. It is suitable for children one to five years.

This unbranded Paracetamol suspension contains the same active ingredient as Calpol which retails for £3.60 in chemists and supermarkets.

 

Q: Does this medication give me the same effect as the branded version, Calpol?

 

A: Absolutely.
 
When a pharmaceutical company develops a drug it is given unique rights to sell it for a number of years. Once that ends any company can make it providing they meet the regulations. Therefore, over the counter drugs have identical medical properties regardless of brand, packaging and advertising.
 
The key is the ‘active' ingredient - the chemical that actually treats the symptoms.  Protections and quality control apply equally to all branded and non branded products. The non branded product must meet the same quality standards as the branded version. Packaging may vary, but the items are identical and the results will be the same.
 
Paracetamol  6 yrs +Sugar/Colour relieve pains and feverishness. It is suitable for children six years and over and for adults who have difficulty in swallowing pain relieving tablets.

Directions:

Children 6-12 years: one to two 5ml spoonfuls. Adults and children over 12 years: two to four 5ml spoonfuls. Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
 
Ingredients:
 
Ingredients - Active ingredient per 5ml is Paracetamol 250mg.
 
Warnings:
 
Do not exceed stated dose. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of overdose, even if you feel well because of the risk of delayed serious liver damage. Do not take with other products containing paracetamol. You should make sure that you carefully read all product packaging and labels prior to use.
 
Side-Effects:
 
Side effects with paracetamol are rare but should you experience skin rash or other side effects report to your doctor or pharmacist.
